Point of view: Single, First person
Relationship: MM
Type of series: Standalone
In a nutshell: When tangentially - and reluctantly - famous Luc O'Donnell is forced back into the spotlight in the worst possible way, he has to think fast if he wants to save his floundering reputation. Enter Oliver Blackwood. Stunningly handsome and effortlessly put together, Oliver is successful, an ethical vegetarian, and has never appeared in a scandal mag even once. In other words, he's perfect boyfriend material and exactly what Luc needs to appear respectable again. But when their fake relationship starts to feel like real romance, Luc and Oliver might have to consider whether they're willing to fight for the truth of their new relationship…scandal, and consequences, be damned.
What I thought: Wow, you know those books you can't put down - this one is one of those for me! I was sneaking every moment I could to read.
My Kids: "Mum can we watch some TV?"
Me: "ABSOLUTELY!!" (as I curl up on the couch next to them, gleefully turning on my kindle)
Just saying, I'm parenting goals.
Anyway, moving on from me slightly putting this book above being a super present parent for two days, Boyfriend Material hit me with all the feels and I can't recommend it enough.
It's a single POV slow burn romance which I love as it allows me to live the story with the main characters in real time as they do. Luc and Oliver are complete opposites and enter a fake relationship to mutually benefit each other's lives in different ways. This story made me do it all - I laughed out loud (not just lols, but actually loud laughed earning me some startled looks from the husband) I cried a bucket load (which again doesn't take much but oof I love it when a book makes me cry) it is just the sweetest story AND it has a Richard Armitage reference in it.
I love it. Luc and Oliver deserve all the love. You should read it. I recommend in a setting where you don't have tiny humans relying on you for survival.
(Just kidding, I promise I'm a good mum. Sometimes.)
