In a nutshell: I thought magic was make believe...but I was way wrong.
I was nobody. No matter how hard I tried, I never fit in with anyone at my high school. Now I know why. Turns out I'm a witch. A scary powerful one, too. Except The Coven that claimed me won't teach me how to use my magic. Suddenly, I'm selected by the Goddess to hunt down a mythical locket needed to save the world from destruction. The only person who actually tries to help me is the alarmingly attractive Tennessee. He has immeasurable power and breathtaking mismatched eyes. I'm drawn to him on a level I can't explain...and he's forbidden from getting too close to me. When the quest takes an unexpected dangerous turn, I have to improvise. This supernatural world is unraveling at my fingertips and I need to master my magic fast. If I don't, I could get everyone I care about killed...
What I thought: The Lost Witch is the first in The Coven series - which so far has spanned two seasons and related novellas to round out the multiple characters stories - and there are a lot of characters to cover!
The Lost Witch is narrated by multiple view points which admittedly took me quite a while to get used to and connect with the story. But when I did, boy was I hooked. I was recommended this series by a friend who also likes Paranormal and Urban Fantasy stories and I'm glad I gave it a go.
Season one mainly covers Tegan's story and through her we get introduced to the many supporting characters (some of whom become main characters of their own seasons/novella series.) The story is full of twists and turns and reveals that make you go back and reread to see the little breadcrumbs Chandelle has left along the way that hints at the twists to come.
I loved this series so much I joined the Facebook group - yes, that's how much I love The Coven saga. If you like clever storylines that are still easy to read, YA/NA Paranormal/Urban Fantasy then this is right up your alley. Read it, and I'll see you in Chandelle's Facebook group to discuss all the intricacies, mind blowing and bloody hilarious moments through this excellent series.
