In a nutshell: The dice are rolled at midnight. As the twenty-one-year-old heiress to the Le Spyre fortune, my life should consist of strawberry mojitos and golf carts. Right? But I’m determined to forge my own path. Desperate to escape the meaningless games of the rich, I flee my family’s estate.
Secret alias - check.
Place to sleep - uh, kind of?
Job - crap!
I’ve bitten off more than I can chew, but that’s the least of my worries. My city is a giant board game. The players are supernatural - freakin’ vampires - including an overbearing crown prince whose unwanted attention could spell my demise. Now, I must play their deadly game, or my grandmother and best friend will pay the ultimate price.
What I thought: Yes Kelly! A new take on the UF genre! Kelly St. Clare delivers a unique take on a Vampire romance with Blood Trial and I am loving it.
Basi is an heiress (but don’t let that deter you from relating to her, she is the bomb) who discovers the city she calls home is not only also home to thousands of vampires but one of whom takes an interest in her. I love Kelly’s books, they are clever, written beautifully, so damn funny and she writes relatable characters - yes even inconceivably rich heiresses!
The romance is smoking hot - alpha male, strong as heck main female who wants nothing to do with him but also finds him irresistibly attractive? Yes, I’m here for this.
This book ends on a cliffhanger but is part of a trilogy that are all out to be read now. So go do it! Catch ya on Level 66.
